Kilgore PD warns about more gas pump skimmers found

Officers from the Kilgore Police Department are warning the public after discovering and recovering skimmers illegally placed on gas pumps as the store located at S. Henderson Blvd. and Leach on Thursday.

In the past week, police found out that some locals had their credit or debit card data compromised.

In a Facebook post, the department said, "this is not surprising, considering there’s a big wave of skimmers being found on area gas pumps."

According to authorities, the skimmers were hidden deep inside the electronics of the machine, undetectable by customers or even gas station attendants.

The Facebook post also mentioned that only a trained pump technician might have found them, and that’s a trend law enforcement agencies are seeing lately.

Paying with cash inside gas station stores, using your credit card for those transactions, and keeping an eye on your bank account activity are all recommended ways to avoid being vulnerable to those skimmers.
